Benjamin Gonzalez, Class of 2027

NPL Championship, Denver CO 2025

ree

This season was an unforgettable journey. After winning the JPL league in our age group, our team earned the chance to travel to Denver, Colorado to compete in the National Premier League (NPL). It was a huge step forward, and I’m proud of how we represented ourselves.

Dominating the Competition

In Denver, we showed why we belonged. We played with confidence, energy, and teamwork—really crushing the competition early in the tournament. We were the better team on the field, and our results proved it.

The Challenge of the Semifinal

Even though we made it all the way to the semifinals, we came up short. The altitude and intense heat in Denver made it one of the toughest playing environments I’ve faced. Still, I gave everything I had, running hard and pushing myself through every minute.

Preparation Paid Off

To get ready for the challenge, I trained in Mount Charleston to simulate the higher altitude and build endurance. That preparation gave me the confidence and stamina to compete at my best against top-level teams.

Beyond the Field

What made the trip even more special was the time spent with my teammates. Whether we were celebrating wins, recovering between games, or just hanging out, the memories we created off the field were just as meaningful as the ones on it.

Looking Ahead

Winning JPL and competing at NPL reminded me of how far I’ve come and how much farther I want to go. We may not have walked away with the trophy, but the lessons, preparation, and experiences will stay with me as I keep working toward my goals.
