Not every opportunity goes the way we hope, but every experience can be a chance to grow. Recently, I attended Villarreal’s ID camp—though I wasn’t chosen as a potential player to represent North America, I had the privilege of training with athletes from across the continent under the guidance of coaches from Villarreal in Spain.
A Day on the Pitch
The training was intense, fast-paced, and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The coaches challenged us to think quickly, move with purpose, and execute with precision. Every drill pushed me to raise my level, and I gave everything I had on the field.
Playing With Pride
I knew I wasn’t on the list of players being considered, but that didn’t stop me from giving my best. Instead, I treated the day as my opportunity to show myself—and others—that I belong at this level. I stayed focused, worked hard, and embraced the chance to learn.
More Than a Selection
For me, the experience wasn’t just about being chosen; it was about growth, proving resilience, and gaining confidence in my game. Walking off the field, I wasn’t disappointed—I was proud. Proud that I showed up, pushed myself, and represented my game with everything I had.
Looking Ahead
This experience reminded me why I love this sport. Every training, every challenge, every chance to compete is a step forward. I may not have been chosen this time, but I know that with continued work and dedication, I will create my own opportunities.
